Freedom Friday - A Dancer's Pose

I was browsing Pinterest and came upon this photo by photographer, Chelsea Rowe and what caught my attention was the grace of the dancer's pose. As I studied the photo, the first thing that came to mind was freedom. That is what I saw when I looked at the photo. The dancer expressed herself in a way that shows how free we really are.

Dear God Help Us All

With the recent headlines in the news over the past few days, I wasn't really sure what to say. I became quiet and just observed as I oftentimes like to do. When I saw this photo of residents and police officers of Ferguson, Missouri my heart dropped. It still leaves me speechless, but what I will ask is for God to help us all.

May we pray without ceasing.

When Did The "B" Word Become A Term Of Endearment

I came across a post on Instagram last week that stated, and I quote (excuse the language), "I can't wait for this "Bad Bitch" phase to end so women can go back to being women."  This got me thinking; since when did the "B" word become a term of endearment between women? When did it become okay to call your girlfriends or even yourself a "Bad B"? Is it no longer disrespectful and now widely accepted as a badge of honor to call other women out of their name for the sake of getting attention and or gaining notoriety?

Aaron McGruder's Black Jesus Is About To Create A Ruckus

Last week I saw a commercial for Adult Swim's Black Jesus, created by Aaron McGruder who is also the creator of The Boondocks. Before I knew exactly what I was watching, I was giggling at the antics shown, but after the commercial faded to black, I thought...wait, what was that again? A show about Jesus and his crew, living life, acting a fool and smoking weed all throughout the city of Compton. Disrespectful or not?
